Job summary

Watson Building Supplies Inc. is seeking a Customer Service Representative/Dispatcher in Owen Sound to assist customers with building supply needs through in-person, phone, and email interactions.

You will process sales orders, quote jobs, support outside reps, manage dispatch, coordinate deliveries, and maintain inventory accuracy while preparing essential documentation. The role requires strong communication, organization, and teamwork; forklift certification and a valid G-class license are

Qualifications

• Secondary education or equivalent experience in business or related field.
• Forklift certification required.
• G-class license with good driving record; DZ preferred.
• Self-motivated, independent, and detail oriented.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience in building materials is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process sales orders accurately and efficiently.
• Build and maintain customer relationships to drive loyalty.
• Assist Outside Sales Reps with quotes and admin tasks.
• Engage in business development with dormant accounts.
• Understand products to provide expert guidance.
• Handle objections and provide solutions.
• Prepare documentation and communicate pricing and terms.
• Manage store administration including invoicing and inventory.
• Oversee POs, SOs, transfers, and credits.

Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a Customer Service Representative/Dispatcher who is passionate about providing exceptional service and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This role involves assisting customers with their building supply needs through daily interactions in person, over the phone, and via email. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with customers while supporting sales and dispatch functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Process sales orders accurately and efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to enhance loyalty and repeat business.
• Assist Outside Sales Reps with job quoting and administrative support.
• Engage in business development by contacting dormant accounts to promote products and services.
• Develop a solid understanding of our product offerings to provide expert guidance to customers.
• Handle customer objections and provide solutions to meet their needs.
• Clearly communicate product/service benefits, pricing, and credit terms, and prepare relevant documentation (sales orders, reports, etc.).
• Manage store administration, including invoicing, inventory accuracy, and cycle counting.
• Oversee open document management, including purchase orders (POs), sales orders (SOs), transfers, and credits.
• Ensure timely and professional communication of issues and successes with management.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
• Act as a brand ambassador, maintaining professionalism with both customers and colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Dispatch Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the delivery team.
• Tracking and communicating delivery information to operations, warehouse, delivery teams and customers.
• Work with other team members to ensure delivery success.
• Inventory management.
• Document and report on required metrics and activities.
• Communicate issues and successes to superiors in a timely manner.
• Communicate all information and instructions respectfully.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks in the warehouse when needed.
• Assist with deliveries at job sites when needed.
• Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers
• Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Secondary education in business, commerce, supply chain management, management, or equivalent experience and on the job training.
• Valid forklift certification and experience are required.
• Minimum of a valid G-class license with a good driving record - DZ class is preferred
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
• Strong team player with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in the building materials industry is preferred but not required.
• Excellent writtenand verbal communication skills.
• Tech-savvy with the ability to navigateindustry-related software and tools.
• Ability to managepressure, meet deadlines, and handle customer demands efficiently.
