True North Cannabis Co. / True North Vapes is seeking a Cannabis & Vape Sales Associate for North Bay, ON. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, guiding purchases, and ensuring compliant sales in a fast-paced retail setting.

You will use POS systems (Cova, Merrco, Dutchie) and maintain product knowledge across cannabis, vaping products, tobacco, and accessories. Weekend/evening availability is required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least the minimum legal age for Ontario cannabis sales.
• Must hold a valid AGCO-approved cannabis retail training certification (CannSell or other approved program).
• Prior customer service or retail experience is preferred.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.

As a Cannabis & Vape Sales Associate, you'll play an important role in providing an exceptional shopping experience across our cannabis and vape retail operations. Whether assisting experienced customers or welcoming someone new, you'll help customers make informed purchasing decisions while ensuring all sales comply with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent Our Brands: Proudly represent True North Cannabis Co. and True North Vapes with professionalism, enthusiasm, and exceptional customer service.
• Customer Experience: Greet and assist customers, creating a welcoming, knowledgeable, and positive shopping environment.
• Product Knowledge: Develop and maintain knowledge of cannabis, vape, tobacco, accessories, and related products to confidently assist customers with their purchasing decisions.
• Sales Performance: Actively engage with customers, recommend appropriate products, promote accessories, and work toward achieving individual and store sales goals.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Store Management and fellow Sales Associates to maximize sales, improve store performance, and deliver excellent customer service.
• Cannabis & Vape Sales: Facilitate the responsible sale of regulated cannabis, vaping, tobacco and related products in accordance with applicable legislation and company policies.
• Compliance & ID Verification: Verify customer identification, enforce minimum age requirements, and follow all federal, provincial, and municipal regulations governing cannabis, vaping, and tobacco sales.
• Point-of-Sale Operations: Accurately process transactions using POS systems such as Cova, Merrco, Dutchie, and other company-approved systems.
• Cash Handling: Follow established cash-handling procedures, including accurate transactions, cash reconciliation, and loss prevention practices.
• Inventory & Merchandising: Assist with receiving inventory, stocking shelves, organizing products, maintaining displays, and ensuring accurate product placement.
• Store Operations: Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and professional retail environment while completing daily operational tasks.
• Customer Feedback: Address customer questions, concerns, and feedback professionally and escalated issues to management when required.
• Industry Knowledge: Stay informed about new cannabis and vape products, industry developments, company promotions and regulatory changes.
• Continuous Improvement: Take initiative, contribute ideas, accept coaching, and actively participate in training and professional development.
• Independent Work: Demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage store responsibilities, and maintain operational standards during shifts with limited supervision.

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays, with operating hours potentially ranging from 8:00 AM to 11:30 PM.
• Must meet the legal age requirements for employment in Ontario cannabis retail.
• Must hold a valid, AGCO-approved cannabis retail training certification (CannSell or another currently approved program) before performing cannabis retail duties.
• Ability to meet applicable background screening and regulatory eligibility requirements.

Previous Experience Is an Asset

• Previous experience in customer service, sales or retail operations.
• Knowledge of cannabis strains, product formats, accessories, vaping devices, e-liquids and related products.
• Experience using retail POS systems and handling inventory.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout scheduled shifts.

Frequent bending, reaching, and occasional lifting of merchandise up to 40 lbs.

Ability to work shifts lasting approximately 8–12 hours, depending on scheduling requirements.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team for all or part of a scheduled shift.

Ability to complete routine cleaning, stocking, merchandising, and store maintenance tasks.

Job Title: Cannabis & Vape Sales Associate (Budtender)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Schedule: Monday to Sunday, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Operating Hours: Store hours may range from 8:00 AM to 11:30 PM, depending on location.

Part-Time Hours: Up to 30 hours per week, based on operational requirements.

Full-Time Hours: Generally 31–44 hours per week, based on position and operational requirements.
