Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals seeks an experienced Safety Trainer to lead equipment operator certification and safety training for customers and staff. You will manage class schedules, deliver on-site and public training, and ensure accurate records while advancing the Safety Training program.

You will develop new training methods, mentor evaluators, and partner with Sales and Marketing to grow the safety training business across branches. A strong safety background and travel willingness are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years in a related field.
  • Heavy equipment experience with MEWP, forklift, and earth moving.
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and adult learning methods.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct equipment operator certification training for customers and employees.
  • Publish public training class schedules on a 3-month rolling calendar.
  • Provide private classes at a Sunbelt Rentals location or customer site.
  • Maintain training records in Sunbelt’s systems.
  • Issue wallet cards within 24 hours of class completion.
  • Teach new adult training methods and courses on safety topics.
  • Maintain current training and operator certifications.
  • Provide Train the Trainer courses for customers.
  • Optimize productivity by maximizing class attendance and scheduling.
  • Support sales by promoting safety training opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to create training materials for local customers.
  • Coach Certified Evaluators and assist with practical evaluations.
  • Assist onboarding and training of new District Safety Trainers and Evaluators.
  • Advise on safety issues and standards to employees and customers.

If you are interested in pursuing a rewarding career, we invite you to review our opportunities!Job Description SummaryPosition Responsibilities:Conduct equipment operator certification training and general safety training for customers and to a lesser extent, employees using various modalities; modalities will include Instructor Lead Training and Virtual TrainingPublish public training class schedules on SBRs training platform on a 3-month rolling calendar basis to provide customers multiple class options for purchase.Provide private classes to customers either at an SBR branch location or customer site.Complete training records on a timely basis in SBR’s system(s) of record for retention and retrieval according to company policy.Trigger the issuance of customer wallet cards within 24 hours of class completion.Learn new adult training methods and courses to teach customers across a variety of safety topics.Maintain current training and equipment operator certifications.Provide Train the Trainer courses for customers.Optimize productivity using various efficiency measures such as maximizing class attendance and scheduling.Sell and support the sales teams to close safety training opportunities and grow the Safety Training business.Work with the Marketing Support team to create flyers and other sales materials to promote the safety training offering to local customers.Coach and mentor Certified Evaluators in their district(s) with a hands-on opportunity to practice or to see how the practical evaluation is to be completed.Support the Certified Evaluator team by providing equipment practical evaluations to customers who have completed the online equipment certification coursework and written exam.Assist District and Regional Managers with the onboarding and training of new District Safety Trainers, Employee Trainers and Certified Evaluators.Act as an advisor regarding safety issues and standards to SBR employees and customers.Requirements:Education & Experience:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 5 years of work experience in a related fieldHeavy equipment experience and certification (MEWP, Forklift, Earth Moving)Broad knowledge of industry safety standards, practices, and regulationsExperience and knowledge of adult learning methodsDependable, organized, motivated, and self-starterCustomer-service and ‘solutions’ orientedAbility and willingness to travel; overnight travel may be required (10%-15%)Proficiency in MS Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookPreferred bilingual in FrenchPreferred experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)Bachelor’s degree preferredPhysical Demands:Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job.
