Position Summary
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for the implementation of mine site safety processes and implements corporate safety initiatives and training. Ensures that mine operations are in overall compliance with provincial regulatory statutes and corporate standards by educating mine employees on health and safety issues and reviewing mine processes. In addition, the Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that Safety Department actions are based on sound business, safety, and environmental goals.
This position will have supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Typical Physical Demands
Requires mobility sufficient to travel. Requires mobility sufficient to climb on and off heavy equipment and associated mining machines. Requires mobility sufficient to navigate over uneven terrain while accessing equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires some data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting of safety materials, files or paper potentially weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
Typical Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Will require outside field work related to training evaluations and safety inspections. Occasional evening or weekend work.
