Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive Health & Safety experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements and claims management.
• Experience with incident investigations, audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
• Post-secondary Occupational Health & Safety education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the Health & Safety Management System.
• Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, applicable legislation, and company standards.
• Lead hazard assessments, incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Manage internal safety audits and support external COR audits.
• Coordinate JOHSC meetings, inspections, action items, and employee safety initiatives.
• Develop safety orientation, training, competency tracking, and documentation programs.
• Track safety KPIs, lost-time incidents, corrective-action completion, and training compliance.
• Support WorkSafeBC claims, Return-to-Work programs, and modified-duty planning.
• Manage emergency preparedness, drills, evacuation procedures, and related documentation.
• Coach managers, supervisors, and employees on safety responsibilities and safe work practices.
• Provide leadership and development to the Safety Coordinator.

What You’ll Do

• Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements and claims management.
• Experience with incident investigations, audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
• Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and analytical skills.
• Post-secondary Occupational Health & Safety education preferred.

Preferred: CRSP, CSO, First Aid, internal-auditor training, and experience implementing ISO safety or quality systems from the ground up.
