Job summary

Fountain Tire seeks a knowledge- and safety-oriented Safety Specialist to support our Western Canada stores and advance the Safety Excellence program.

Reporting to the Manager of Safety, you will conduct audits, coordinate training, and collaborate with Operations to integrate safety into daily practices, with 40% travel to locations.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
  • Certified Auditor status a considerable asset.
  • Ability to travel 40% of the year to Fountain Tire locations.
  • CRSP courses completed are a plus.
  • Familiarity with site safety regulations and WCB requirements.

Fountain Tire is seeking a knowledgeable & safety-oriented full-time Safety Specialistto be a key player supporting ourstores in western Canada. Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct on-site internal safety audits to designated locations twice per year using our internal auditing tool.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with certifying partners, auditors and provincial boards. Complete required reporting.
  • Support Managers at all Fountain Tire locations to properly process WCB filings and incident investigations. Coach locations where incidents exceed industry average.
  • Promote Safety awareness as a subject matter expert through internal engagement, external marketing opportunities, and industry partnerships - fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and workplace safety.
  • Research, develop, and deliver safety training programs and procedures with Learning and Development, ensuring compliance with provincial regulations
  • Collaborate with Operations, Corporate Sales, and Learning & Development to integrate safety into business practices and training.
  • Build and manage accessible tools, forms, and online resources to support Safety programs across all locations.
  • Lead Safety recognition programs (COR, SECOR, MECOR), coordinate audits, reporting, and maintain relationships with certifying partners and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of PPE and assemble, analyze, and maintain Safety data for audits, trend reports, and proactive program improvement.
  • Support contractor pre-qualification and ensure consistent standards are met across third-party engagements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), and a minimum of 2 years experience in ahands-on, frontline Safety environment.
  • Certified Auditor status a considerable asset.
  • Ability to travel 40% of the yearto Fountain Tire locations (stores, retread plants, distribution centers, etc.)
  • Several and/or all Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) courses completed.
  • Familiarity with procedures for site safety, regulations, emergency procedures and WCB requirements.
  • Strong analytical & decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and customer focused approach that will enable dealing with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity.
  • Proven experience in the effective coordination of projects from inception through implementation including maintenance of appropriate documentation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication, consultation, and coaching skills.
  • Superior writing skills demonstrated by current success in drafting materials for diverse audiences.
