Job summary

Sasco Contractors Ltd. is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to champion safe work practices, ensure compliance with COR and WorkSafeBC regulations, and drive continuous improvement across our field and office teams.

Reporting to the VP of Finance & Administration, you will lead safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations, collaborating with project managers, supervisors, and unions to uphold a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• NCSO designation or equivalent is required.
• Internal COR Auditor Certification or willingness to complete.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• 5+ years of construction health & safety experience.
• Experience interpreting WorkSafeBC regulations and OHS legislation.
• Proven experience managing safety programs, inspections, audits, and training initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Act as the organization’s subject matter expert on occupational health and safety matters.
• Promote and reinforce safety culture across the organization.
• Build relationships with field staff, supervisors, and regulatory agencies.
• Lead incident investigations and develop corrective actions.
• Manage site visits, inspections, and risk assessments.
• Develop training programs and safety orientations.
• Provide reporting and analytics on safety performance.
