Job summary

Coca-Cola Peterborough, Canada seeks a Senior Manager of Safety, Environmental & Security to lead site programs ensuring occupational health, environmental sustainability, and risk management. You will drive regulatory compliance, implement ISO frameworks, oversee wastewater and environmental performance, and design training for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in safety and environmental roles within manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and sustain effective safety and environmental management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety protocols, environmental compliance requirements, and risk control processes across manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 4501, and experience with Process Safety Management.
  • Wastewater management and treatment operations as well as industrial hygiene practices.
  • Knowledge and experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems, including associated safety and environmental considerations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal regulatory frameworks in Canada related to health, safety, and the environment.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into actionable improvement plans; digital fluency in using technology and systems for compliance tracking and reporting.
  • Skilled at engaging teams and leadership in building a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to work across functions and engage external stakeholders.

  • Represent the organization with local/regional authorities on regulatory matters.
  • Support sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact.

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Safety, Environmental & Security (SES) for our Peterborough, Canada facility-an integral role ensuring our operations meet high standards for occupational health, environmental sustainability, and risk mitigation. What You'll Do for Us

Lead the site-level implementation and continuous improvement of safety, environmental, and security programs that align with organizational and regulatory standards.

Facilitate comprehensive risk assessment processes, including failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), health and safety risk evaluations, and environmental impact assessments to proactively mitigate hazards.

Drive compliance with regulatory obligations and internal requirements across occupational health, environmental protection, and security, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and Process Safety Management frameworks.

Establish strategies and monitor wastewater treatment and environmental performance against sustainability commitments.

Design and deliver training programs across multiple audiences, including new hire orientation, annual safety refreshers, specialized modules, contractor induction, and leadership sessions.

Build and maintain emergency preparedness and medical response programs while coordinating effective onsite and contractor safety processes.

Collaborate with cross functional teams and external partners to identify, share, and implement best practices in industrial hygiene, environmental protection, and behavioral safety.

Translate safety, environmental, and sustainability metrics into clear performance indicators for site personnel, promoting accountability and engagement in shared goals.

Partner with leadership to conduct reviews on safety and sustainability performance and foster a culture committed to continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental outcomes.

Manage findings from internal and external audits, ensuring timely corrective actions and preventive measures.

Represent the organization in interactions with local and regional authorities on compliance and regulatory matters while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Support sustainability initiatives to reduce operational environmental impact and advance company goals in resource efficiency and circularity.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience in large manufacturing facilities will be considered.

5+ years of progressive experience in safety and environmental roles within manufacturing or industrial operations.

Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and sustain effective safety and environmental management systems.

Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety protocols, environmental compliance requirements, and risk control processes across manufacturing environments.

Proficiency in standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 4501, and experience with Process Safety Management.

Wastewater management and treatment operations as well as industrial hygiene practices.

Knowledge and experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems, including associated safety and environmental considerations.

Comprehensive understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal regulatory frameworks in Canada related to health, safety, and the environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)

Lean or Six Sigma certification.

Advanced knowledge of behavioral safety methodologies and cultural transformation initiatives.

Experience in food or beverage manufacturing environments.
