Job summary

Hansen Industries Ltd, a Richmond, BC precision sheet metal, machine and stamping shop, seeks a Safety Associate to lead health and safety objectives and coordinate safety activities.

The role involves developing safety programs, conducting training, and supporting the Occupational Health and Safety Program to ensure compliance and safety in daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication is an asset, particularly metal working machines, mobile equipment, or welding processes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Strong understanding of the WCA, Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and CSA standards, ability to interpret and apply applicable legislation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing safety programs and policy is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in development and review of safety programs.
  • Assist in the development and communication of Safe Work Practices and Procedures, SOP’s, Risk Assessments, and lockout procedures.
  • Assist in investigating and reporting workplace injuries and incidents.
  • Completing jobsite safety inspections and monitoring issues, ensuring follow up of corrective actions.
  • Assisting in the annual COR/OSSE Audit.
  • Delivering safety presentations or other safety related information.
  • Communicating safety information / policy changes to departments as required.
  • Initial safety orientation of new employees.
  • General safety-related duties as assigned.
  • Tracking and/or trending all safety related data including safety training completed, monthly inspection findings, accident reports, near miss reports.
  • Scheduling and participating in monthly JHSC meetings and monthly workplace inspections, recording and posting minutes.
  • Annual and periodic updating of Safety Data Sheets.
  • Monitoring and communication of status of First Aid/Forklift/Other safety related licenses / records to ensure they remain current.
  • Filing records as needed for annual inspections, pre-use inspections, inspection reports, orientation records, 5S checklist.
  • Updating safety boards, JHSC, FA posters and creating new safety signs as needed.

Overall Objective
