Job description

VIH Helicopters Ltd. (VIH) is looking for a team-focused person to join our Maintenance Department and S-61 Heli Logging and Fire fighting program.

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the ideal candidate, will be expected to perform all aircraft maintenance duties such as installation, adjustment and repair of aircraft components, carry out routine inspections and heavy maintenance. Be expected to work away from base for periods up to and beyond 2-week rotations. Have strong trouble shooting abilities. Be able to work in multi crew / team environment while adhering to all technical publications including Transport Canada requirements. T

This is a full-time position based at the VIH Helicopters facility in Campbell River, BC, Canada as main base, but the field work can take employees across Canada or globally. Previous experience in Helicopter Aerial Fire fighting or Heli Logging on different types of helicopters is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installing and testing aircraft components.
  • Conduct maintenance and repair on operational equipment like hydraulic grapples and fire fighting buckets.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing defects on multiple aircraft systems.
  • Performing inspections, both in the field or hanger work environments.
  • Providing accurate diagnoses of difficult defects or other system problems.
  • Complete any company-directed training and successfully pass any associated examinations and tests.
  • Work productively within a multi-discipline team environment.
  • Maintain accurate logbook entries of work performed.
  • Address all defects as per VIHs MPM, and Quality Assurance Program.
  • Accept and complete any other assigned work as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a valid Transport Canada AME license in the M1 or M2 category
  • Minimum of five (5) years of practical experience working with heavy multi engine helicopters (preferred).
  • An understanding of aircraft systems, such as hydraulics, flight control, engines and avionics.
  • The ability to read and interpret maintenance publications and other technical information.
  • Excellent analytical, attention-to-detail, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to work away from base on a shift rotation.
  • Possess a valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
  • Physically fit, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as climb, kneel, and work frequently in tight spaces.
