School District 71 is seeking a Program Worker - Interpreter for Elementary/Secondary levels. The role involves providing interpreting services for deaf and hard of hearing students, supporting their educational needs, and collaborating with educational staff. Candidates should have relevant qualifications and experience in interpreting, particularly in an educational setting. This position promotes an inclusive learning environment and requires effective communication skills.

Bachelor of Arts is preferred; a combination of a diploma in Sign Language Interpretation and other coursework in ASL-English and Interpreting will be considered; active membership in provincial and/or national interpreter associations such as Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters (WAVLI); at least two years experience working as an interpreter; experience working with school-aged populations is preferred; proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) to provide message equivalent interpretations; willingness to work in an inclusionary setting supporting differentiated instruction with adapted and modified curriculum; ability to deal effectively with staff and students; meets the physical requirements of the position; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties are performed under the supervision of the school/district Principal or Vice Principal and the Director of Inclusive Education or designate. Responsibilities include:
