Job summary

404 Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to support surgery and anesthesia in a fast-paced specialty setting.

You will work with surgeons and specialists, mentor staff, perform pre-anesthetic evaluations, and provide perioperative care while maintaining accurate medical records and client communication. We offer competitive pay and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• RVT in good standing or eligible for registration.
• Emergency/surgical experience or a VTS designation (Surgery or Anesthesia) is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of veterinary pharmacology, anesthesia protocols, and emergency triage.
• Proficient in IV catheter placement, patient assessment, and lab diagnostics.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills for a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Advanced anesthesia and perioperative support for complex cases alongside surgeons and specialists.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to a collaborative hospital culture.
• Assist with surgical preparation, sterile procedures, and diagnostics.
• Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations and pre-operative testing.
• Care for patients: catheter placement, medications, fluids, and sample collection.
• Monitor patients under sedation or anesthesia to ensure safety and comfort.
• Aid during appointments and client communication.
• Prepare medications and discharge patients from the surgical service.
