Job summary

Northern Health in Prince Rupert is seeking a Pediatrician to join our rural pediatric program, with option for a part-time partner. The role focuses on the full range of general pediatric services for children and families in Prince Rupert and surrounding coastal communities.

The APP contract includes 1.0 FTE equivalent (1680 hours/year) and on-call coverage via MOCAP, with collaborative care across hospital and community teams.

Responsibilities

• Pediatric consultations and assessments
• Diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic pediatric conditions
• Inpatient care at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital and other Northwest HSDA facilities
• Resuscitation and emergent interventions
• Stabilization and coordination of transfers to higher levels of care
• Immediate newborn care or arranging coverage for newborn care
• Preventive care and patient/family education
• Collaboration and referrals to other specialists
• Pediatric mental health assessment and treatment of ADHD, anxiety, depression
• Referral and co-management with psychiatry and community mental health teams
• Management of chronic pediatric illness
• Medical record keeping and reporting
• Discharge planning and outpatient follow-up
• Service coordination with hospital teams and community health services
• Telephone consultative advice to physicians and pediatric colleagues
• Multidisciplinary team participation and care coordination
• Teaching and research activities where applicable
• Local and regional health-care planning for pediatric services
• Health-promotion activities and quality assurance participation
• Collaboration with nurse practitioners and allied health professionals
• Submission of required reports within timelines
