Job summary

Running Room is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join our Edmonton Corporate Office. You will own more complex accounting tasks within a collaborative, fast-paced environment and work closely with other accounting team members and cross-functional departments.

This 100% in-office role requires a solid accounting foundation, strong MS Excel skills, and a commitment to accurate financial reporting and timely month-end close.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze general ledger accounts including balance sheets, income statements, and reconciliations.
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes with journal entries and reporting.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and working papers for external accountants.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP.
• Investigate discrepancies or variances in financial data.
• Contribute to financial analysis including variance analysis.
• Collaborate with team and cross-functional departments to resolve accounting issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and support operational efficiency.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Location: Edmonton Corporate Office

The Running Room Group of Companies is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Intermediate Accountant to join our in-office Accounting and Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who has built a solid foundation in accounting and is ready to take ownership of more complex tasks in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with other accounting team members and cross-functional departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in financial data.
• Contribute to financial analysis including variance analysis.
• Collaborate with team members and operational departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and support operational efficiency.
• Other related duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in full-cycle accounting, with increasing levels of responsibility over time.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar accounting software is an asset.
• Willingness to work evenings or weekends as required by deadlines.
