Job summary

Wajax is seeking a field-service technician in Calgary to inspect, repair, and recondition hydraulic components and rotating assemblies on customer sites or in shop environments. You will dismantle, repair, test, and document service reports; operate lathes/mills for component machining; and support safety and teamwork in a dynamic industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Rotating equipment experience including repairing gear boxes and process pumps.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanics, Hydraulics, or Millwright.
• Fluid Power training is an asset.
• Machining knowledge required (lathe, milling).
• Fabrication experience and basic electrical knowledge are assets.
• Strong working knowledge of heavy-duty tools.
• Capable of safe work practices alone or in a team.
• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly.
• Service and team orientation.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, service, and troubleshoot rotating equipment.
• Test rebuilt components or systems to acceptable results.
• Maintain clean and safe shop/work area.
• Machining of components on mill and lathe.
• Respond to field service calls; may require up to 2 weeks on site.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Additional responsibilities as requested.

The Opportunity

Responsible for providing quality workmanship, consistent service, and technical knowledge to the customers. Performs all tasks related to the testing, diagnosing, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning of hydraulic components and rotating assemblies on a customer site or in a shop environment. This position will be both in field and shop.

The Role

• Complete dismantle and inspection of components, as well as complete a comprehensive service report with accurate measurements related to these components.
• Build, repair, service, and troubleshoot various rotating equipment assemblies and systems.
• Tests rebuilt components or systems to acceptable results.
• Always maintain cleanliness of shop and work area to ensure the maintenance of a safe work environment, performing various cleaning and maintenance duties as required.
• Machining of various components on Mill and Lathe.
• Responding to field service calls as they arrive. Potential for up to 2 weeks on site at times.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Additional responsibilities, as requested.

The Candidate

• Must have rotating equipment experience including repairing gear boxes and process pumps
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanics, Hydraulics, Millwright, or equivalent experience.
• Fluid Power Training, an asset.
