Job summary

Wajax Corporation in Grande Prairie, AB, is seeking a skilled technician to test, diagnose, repair, and recondition electric motor and generator components on customer sites or in shop environments.

The role involves dismantling, rebuilding, testing, and installing components, with occasional on-site work and regular safety meetings. A mechanics/millwright background and machining knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanics, Millwright, EMST or equivalent experience.
• Machining knowledge with lathe and milling machine.
• Fabrication experience and basic electrical knowledge is an asset.
• Strong working knowledge of heavy‑duty tools and equipment.
• Must be mechanically inclined with a good learning capacity.
• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle and inspect components and prepare a detailed service report with measurements.
• Build, repair, service and troubleshoot motor and generator components and rotating assemblies.
• Test rebuilt components or systems to acceptable results.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform related cleaning tasks.
• Install and align components; respond to field service calls with potential on-site work.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and perform additional responsibilities as requested.

Job description

Responsible for providing quality workmanship, consistent service, and technical knowledge to the customers. Performs all tasks related to the testing, diagnosing, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning of electric motors and generator components and rotating assemblies on a customer site or in a shop environment

The Role

• Complete dismantle and inspection of components, as well as complete a comprehensive service report with accurate measurements related to these components.
• Build, repair, service, and troubleshoot various electric motor and generator components and rotating assemblies.
• Tests rebuilt components or systems to acceptable results.
• Always maintain cleanliness of shop and work area to ensure the maintenance of a safe work environment, performing various cleaning and maintenance duties as required.
• Performing installation and alignment;
• Responding to field service calls as they arrive. Potential for up to 2 weeks on site at times.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Additional responsibilities, as requested.

The Candidate
