Job summary

Wajax is seeking a skilled technician to inspect, repair and recondition electric motors and generator components on customer sites or in our shop. You will dismantle, inspect, repair, align, and test rotating assemblies while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

The candidate should have post-secondary training in mechanics/millwright fields and experience with machining, fabrication, and heavy-duty tools. On-site field work may be required for up to two weeks at a time.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanics/Millwright/EMST or equivalent experience.
• Machining knowledge required (e.g., lathe, milling machine).
• Fabrication experience and basic electrical knowledge are assets.
• Strong working knowledge of heavy-duty tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Complete dismantle and inspection of components, and prepare a comprehensive service report with accurate measurements.
• Build, repair, service, and troubleshoot electric motor and generator components and rotating assemblies.
• Test rebuilt components or systems to acceptable results.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in shop and on site.
• Perform installation and alignment; respond to field service calls (up to 2 weeks on site).
• Participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Additional responsibilities as requested.

Responsible for providing quality workmanship, consistent service, and technical knowledge to the customers. Performs all tasks related to the testing, diagnosing, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning of electric motors and generator components and rotating assemblies on a customer site or in a shop environment

Performs all tasks related to the testing, diagnosing, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning of electric motors and generator components and rotating assemblies on a customer site or in a shop environment

The Role

• Complete dismantle and inspection of components, as well as complete a comprehensive service report with accurate measurements related to these components.
• Build, repair, service, and troubleshoot various electric motor and generator components and rotating assemblies.
• Tests rebuilt components or systems to acceptable results.
• Always maintain cleanliness of shop and work area to ensure the maintenance of a safe work environment, performing various cleaning and maintenance duties as required.
• Performing installation and alignment;
• Responding to field service calls as they arrive. Potential for up to 2 weeks on site at times.

The Candidate

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanics, Millwright, EMST or equivalent experience.

• Strong working knowledge of heavy-duty tools and equipment.
• Must be mechanically inclined with a good learning capacity.
• Capable of safe work practices while alone or in a team on customer site.
• The ability to effectively communicate technical issues.
• Service and team orientation.
