Job summary

Sinai Health’s Mother Baby Unit seeks a Registered Practical Nurse to deliver skilled postpartum and newborn care, educate families, and participate in care planning. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and compassionate maternal-newborn services.

The role emphasizes evidence-based nursing, learning opportunities, and commitment to patient safety in a fast-paced hospital setting. RPN licensure with BCLS and NRP prerequisites are required.

Qualifications

• Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Graduate of a CNO-approved Practical Nursing (PN) program.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) advanced provider status; NRP course to be completed within 3 months if not certified.
• Infant feeding course; course to be completed within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for postpartum patients and stable neonates in the Mother Baby Unit.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery and newborn care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe, evidence-based nursing care.
• Support discharge planning and transition planning for families.
• Mentor nursing learners and new staff; participate in quality improvement.
