Job summary

Atlas-Apex Services (Manitoba) Inc. is a leading roofing contractor seeking a seasoned supervisor to manage roofing foremen and field operations across commercial projects. You will ensure schedules, labour and materials stay on budget, and champion site safety and documentation.

Responsibilities include risk assessments, coordinating with purchasers and subs, training crews, and maintaining professionalism on site while delivering quality workmanship and on-time project delivery.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the industrial, commercial flat roofing industry, in either supervision or work experience is required.
• Ability to read and comprehend job specifications and contract documents with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good oral and written communication; ability to present information to clients, consultants and colleagues.
• Self-motivated, able to work at a fast pace and lead teams effectively.
• Valid driver’s license with clean abstract.

Responsibilities

• Supervising roofing foremen and all commercial roofing field operations
• Overseeing in progress production work to ascertain appropriate schedule and to certify that labour and material for individual projects meet allotted budgets
• Monitoring and ensuring that safety rules on site are adhered to in relation to both project specific plans and company safety policies
• Ensuring safety paperwork, including safety talks, JSA’s and Inspections on individual sites are carried out
• Working with roofing foreman to address material requirements
• Working in liaison with the Purchaser and Fleet/Equipment Manager to schedule material and equipment shipments, deliveries and loading
• Working directly with on-site inspection, consulting to rectify or enhance required installation details deliberating with project management as necessary
• Communicating with architects, engineers, consultants, building operators, building owners, property managers, as necessary
• Engaging in daily discussions with management and disseminating information
• Providing leadership to employees and ensuring company policies are followed
• Being aware of and being prepared to act upon company disciplinary policy
• Performing roof inspections, take offs, detail drawings and extensions
• Liaising with service department projects as required
• Managing and dealing with job site crisis, emergencies and/or unforeseen issues as necessary
• Liaising, coordinating and communicating with subcontractors (gravel removal, cranes, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical) for work on site
• Recruiting new workers to the company
• Taking part in training of production and service crews
• Ensuring daily crew hours are forwarded to management team and/or input in job cost control program
• Preparing and tracking all paper work (inspection reports, deficiency reports, change orders, etcetera) relative to individual jobs and dispense to management
• Assisting in pre-project hazard assessment, set-up, pre-load, mobilization, production and demobilization
• Ensuring professionalism and cleanliness at all job sites
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the industrial, commercial flat roofing industry, in either supervision or work experience is required
• Ability to read and comprehend job specifications and contract documents. Accuracy and attention to detail is a must
• Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to clients, consultants, and other employees within the company as needed
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems in a creative manner
• Ability to relate well to all kinds of people, can build constructive and effective relationships using diplomacy and tact
• Self-motivated with the ability to work at fast paced professional level
• Valid driver’s license with clean abstract
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
