Job summary

Magna Exteriors in Vaughan, Canada seeks an automation technician with expertise in MIG, TIG and stick welding, PLC programming and vision systems. The role requires hands-on welding, robot programming and maintenance experience in an automotive environment.

You will work with process engineers and managers to optimize welds, troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvement. Overtime flexibility is expected.

Qualifications

• Post-Secondary education in Robotics / Automation.
• Experience in Mig, Stick and Tig welding.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting with Allen Bradley Rs Logix and Studio 5000.
• Experience with Vision systems such as Keyence 2D/3D and barcode scanners, Cognex.
• Certification in robot programming (ABB, Fanuc, Panasonic).
• Medar programming experience.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to create, modify and follow robot programs for ABB, Fanuc, Panasonic.

Responsibilities

• Wages: $34 - $38 per hour.
• Optimize welding parameters to improve weld quality.
• Analyze data and run experiments for new equipment or techniques.
• Perform preventive maintenance on spot, MIG welders and related equipment.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers and PMs to resolve quality and cycle issues.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly and support continuous improvement.
• Communicate priorities with area leads and managers.
• Complete paperwork and log daily entries in maintenance system.
• Carry a cell phone and respond to calls professionally.
• Work overtime as required.
