Job summary

Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) offers a paid 12‑month residency focused on applying machine learning to robotic object manipulation. You will join a cross‑functional team including ML researchers, software engineers, and product developers, with mentorship from senior Amii scientists and client collaboration with Sarcomere Dynamics.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, sim-to-real pipelines, and contribution to real production robotics tasks.

Qualifications

• MSc/PhD with research in robotics or ML.
• Strong ML fundamentals and experimental analysis.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and improve policies for robot manipulation tasks.
• Build sim-to-real learning pipelines combining simulations and real data.
• Design domain randomization and data augmentation to improve policy robustness.
• Analyze distribution gaps between simulation and real demonstrations.
• Train and benchmark manipulation policies across datasets.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate learned policies into robotics stack.
• Deploy policies on physical hardware and iterate with simulations.
