Robotic Equipment Operator

Hourly rate: $42.15 – Fully Qualified (starts at Learner 1: $35.83/hr; Learner 2: $37.94/hr; Learner 3: $40.04). Progression is merit-based, not hours.

We are hiring Robotic Equipment Operators for our production team in CAMBRIDGE, ON. Each team member plays a vital role in BWXT Canada's success, ensuring we meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Set up and operate robotic welding equipment.

TASKS:
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, shop instruction sheets, weld procedure specifications, weld and rod cards; plan and organize robotic welding tasks; verify workpiece materials.
  • Perform manual weld repairs to robotic welds, adhering to NDE standards.
  • Use calibrated jigs and fixtures for fitting tasks or pre-established layouts.
  • Conduct stud welding operations.
  • Grind welded joints to meet NDE standards.
  • Set up and perform helium leak tests where certification isn't required.
  • Transport tools and materials using overhead cranes for support tasks.
  • Operate preheat, purging, welding shields, and other hand tools.
  • Calibrate equipment as needed.
  • Prepare surfaces for welding and inspection.
  • Complete records and documentation accurately.
  • Work safely, demonstrating good workmanship and practices.
  • Maintain clean work areas and perform utility or helper duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Successful completion of an advanced welding program or related post-secondary Welding Robotics Program.
  • Basic understanding of blueprints.
  • Ability to perform manual welding and repairs to RT/UT standards across multiple processes.
  • Willingness to undertake company-sponsored robotics courses to maintain qualification.
  • Pass a manual welding pre-hire test administered by BWXT.
  • Willingness to complete a company-sponsored manual welding skills development program to obtain RT/UT tickets.

Shift availability includes days (6:00 am - 4:00 pm), afternoons (4:00 pm - 2:00 am), or weekends (Fri-Sun, 6:00 am - 5:00 pm or 5:00 pm - 4:00 am). The pay range in Ontario is expected to be between $35.83 and $42.15 per hour, with additional benefits to be detailed upon employment offer.
