Job summary

Lakes District Maintenance is hiring for an Auxiliary Highway Maintenance Worker & Machine Operator in Atlin, BC. The role entails safe operation of heavy trucks and equipment for highway upkeep, including snow/ice control and roadside maintenance.

You will inspect and maintain equipment, complete logs and reports, and follow safety standards. This is a field-based position with a focus on teamwork and ongoing professional growth within the Volker Stevin family.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Class 3 license with air brake endorsement and clean Driver’s Abstract (≤6 demerits)
• Minimum 2 years in highway maintenance; grader experience is an asset
• Solid knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations
• Safety rules and regulations for driving and operating vehicles and machinery
• Physically fit and able to perform outdoor manual tasks in varying weather

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy trucks and highway maintenance equipment safely
• Perform road surface maintenance including snow/ice control and roadside maintenance
• Inspect, maintain, and report equipment issues promptly
• Complete fuel logs, road reports and maintenance records
• Adhere to company performance standards for highway maintenance activities

Skills
