The City of West Kelowna is seeking a Roads Operator I to maintain municipal roads and infrastructure. The Roads Operator I is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of municipal roads and infrastructure, including snow and ice control, drainage, paving, concrete work, signage, garbage collection, and general road cleanup. Responsibilities include operating power tools, hand tools, and vehicles such as pickup trucks and trailers, with occasional training and operation of heavier equipment. Additional duties involve minor repairs, handling hazardous materials safely, supporting traffic control, adhering to safety regulations, and other related tasks as needed.
The role requires knowledge of equipment operation, public works construction, and maintenance practices. Candidates must be physically fit, capable of outdoor manual labor in all weather, and able to work flexible hours, including shifts and emergency callouts. A strong commitment to safety, ability to work independently or collaboratively, and courteous interaction with the public and colleagues are essential.
