Job summary

City of Red Deer is seeking a Roads Labour Foreperson 2 to plan and supervise road snow and ice maintenance, manage crews and contractors, and ensure safety and quality. The role requires supervisory courses, CPWS Alberta certification, and experience with heavy equipment.

The position is full-time, on-site in Red Deer, with standard and rotating shifts. You will prepare cost estimates, reports, and coordinate with city departments to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
• Must have Level One CPWS Alberta Chapter designation and related supervisory courses.
• 3.5 years’ experience in related construction and maintenance activities with knowledge of equipment, manpower and methods.
• Valid Alberta Class 3 Driver's License with a Q endorsement.
• Ability to operate or drive heavy equipment and read specifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee road snow and ice maintenance.
• Lead and supervise crews and contractors by assigning tasks and training.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and identify hazards.
• Coordinate equipment, materials, traffic control, and site preparation.
• Inspect work to meet specs and timelines.
• Complete daily reports and maintain project documentation.
• Operate heavy equipment and perform field work as required.
• Coordinate and monitor external contractors and liaise with departments and the public.
• Interpret plans and specifications and maintain records.
• Escalate safety, cost, schedule or personnel issues as needed.
