Job description

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for an experienced Road Foreperson who will lead a dedicated team that helps keep our roadways safe and efficient for all travelers.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a permanent, full-time position of RovingRoad Foreperson, reporting to the Superintendent, Roads. As Road Foreperson, you will assist in the supervision and activities of maintenance crews, sub-contractors and hired equipment across the service area. Your base location will be Fort St. John, BC and will require some travel throughout our great province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
  • Effectively follow instructions and function without direct supervision
  • Ensure efficiency of scheduled work that is carried out by employees under your supervision
  • Exercise tact and co-operation in dealing with employees, the general public and government personnel
  • Have extensive knowledge and experience in road maintenance and the requirements of MoTT maintenance specifications
  • Communicate and work co-operatively with Stakeholders
  • Be knowledgeable of Dawson Road Maintenance Safety and Equipment Management Policies.
  • Operate equipment as required.
  • Communicate and work co-operatively with outside agencies such as Municipal Governments, Forestry, Environment, Conservation, Mine Inspectors, R.C.M.P., Worksafe B.C., Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Etc.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in management level roles required
  • Minimum five (5) years of knowledge and experience in the road maintenance industry required
  • Valid Class 3 Driver's License with an Air Brake Endorsement required
  • Valid Class 1 Driver's License preferred
  • Must have a clean driver's abstract
  • Capability to operate equipment subject to qualifications
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to complete shift work as required
