Job summary

Emil Anderson Group in Abbotsford is hiring a Night shift Road Foreman to lead a crew of trade personnel on Fraser Valley projects year-round.

You will plan field operations, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate with Road Superintendent to adapt to weather, incidents, and priorities. The role is outdoors, labor-intensive, and union-affiliated.

Experience at MO4 level or supervisory is valued; a Class 3 with Air Brake, WSIB safety knowledge, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 3 years' experience at the MO4 level or higher, and/or previous supervisory experience is an asset.
• A working knowledge of the Highway Act, Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations as they pertain to the driving and/or operation of the vehicles, equipment and machinery under their supervision.
• Knowledge of Road and Bridge maintenance procedures and proper use of equipment an asset.
• A working knowledge of the WSBC Health and Safety Regulations.
• Willing to nights, weekends, work days and holidays; available for on‑call work during snow events.
• Valid Canadian driver’s licence with a clean abstract; minimum Class 3 with Air Brake endorsement.
• Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 (asset).
• Able to operate equipment safely and responsibly.
• Effective communicator with co‑workers and supervisors.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather; role can be labour‑intensive.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a crew of trade personnel to ensure high-quality road work.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate field operations—assign tasks, manage equipment and materials, and monitor progress to meet timelines and specifications.
• Participate in incident investigations.
• Conduct regular inspections of worksites to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and contract requirements.
• Collaborate with Road Superintendent and other leadership to adapt to changing conditions—weather, emergency events, traffic, or shifting priorities.
• Train crew members in safe work practices, efficient equipment operation, and environmental protection measures.
• Develop and implement safe, practical and efficient traffic management plans in relation to all work activities undertaken by self or crew.
• Operate equipment as and when required.
• Interpret weather reports into applicable operational responses that optimize the safety of the motoring public and minimize negative impacts to the highway infrastructure.
• Respond to after-hours or on‑call duties as needed during snow‑events, incidents or emergencies.
• Ensure all operations are carried out safely, following WorkSafeBC requirements, company policies, and proper use of PPE.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Night shift Road Foreman to join our team in the Fraser Valley, based out of our Abbotsford yard.
