Job Description

Under broad supervision, conducts Commercial Mid-Market risk control assessment, evaluation, consulting, and technical support for prospective, new, and renewal business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  2. Performs workplace/work site risk evaluation and consultative risk improvement services, and makes risk recommendations for the underwriting function, including suggesting solutions to minimize risk for customers.
  3. Works with senior risk control staff to assess program needs and implements customized strategies.
  4. Partners with underwriting and other areas to provide information for risk evaluation and assessment, including reviewing accounts for operational issues, claims, profitability, and agency management.
  5. Performs root cause loss analysis with rating and trending of losses for key accounts.
  6. Develops and maintains business relationships with internal and external partners.
  7. Conducts education and training programs.
  8. Identifies opportunities for new products and services.
  9. Provides expertise in one or more specialty areas.
  10. Performs additional duties as assigned, including special projects and presentations.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Solid technical expertise, risk control evaluation skills, and knowledge of insurance principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle ambiguous situations.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred.
  • Minimum three to five years of risk control experience with a proven track record.
