The Risk Advisory Office (RAO) plays a crucial role in offering advice, direction, and leadership to ministries, aiding in the development and continuous implementation of effective risk management practices and processes. As a key member of the Risk Advisory Office, Risk Analysts have the unique opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with the broader risk advisory team to support the dynamic range of advisory activities with ministries and their Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) teams, key business areas and executives to drive their ERM maturity. The RAO is driven to build a better future for Ontarians by empowering ministries to successfully deliver effective policies, programs and services through robust risk management.
The Risk Analyst role involves providing guidance through critical thinking and analysis as it supports the risk management advice provided to ministries, helping to drive strategic risk discussions, and embed risk management into business processes to improve the lives of Ontarians.
About the job
You will:
• Support senior staff in developing policies and programs to improve risk management across all ministries and agencies.
• Support alignment with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Mandate, using consistent language, processes, and tools for comparing risks.
• Provide expert advice on new risk management strategies to reduce risks.
• Share knowledge and best practices to build risk management skills.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to maintain strong working relationships.
• Develop and implement performance measures to track and improve risk management.
What you bring to the team
Research and Analytical Skills:
• Conduct risk management analysis, compile data, report findings, and support strategic planning.
• Evaluate data, research predictive models, and analyze trends and outcomes to assess implications.
• Design strategies using creative analytics to estimate probabilities and project future outcomes.
Project Management, Leadership and Communication Skills:
• Provide advice on risk management, performance standards, and ERM policies.
• Manage multiple projects, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and lead ERM transformation efforts.
• Develop and deliver ERM training programs, analyze business processes, and recommend risk management strategies.
• Prepare detailed reports to support decision-making and build strong working relationships.
Technical Knowledge and Computer Skills:
You have an understanding of:
• Public sector risk management principles and methods.
• Government policies, priorities, and relevant laws.
• Ontario's policy and program processes, including fiscal planning and reporting.
• Change management to support change initiatives.
• You are proficient with office software, computer applications, and database management.
