Job summary

Western Production Services is seeking a Rig Manager to lead the well servicing rig crew on-site. The role oversees operations, safety, and performance, coordinating with clients and service providers while ensuring compliance with HSE and company policies.

The position requires prior rig management and service rig experience, a valid Class 5 license (air brakes preferred) and multiple safety certifications. Willingness to work in all weather and away from home is essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous service rig experience in Driller and Rig Manager roles.
  • Valid full Class 5 Driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Air Brakes Endorsement preferred.
  • H2S Alive, Standard First Aid with CPR, CSO, Fall Protection for Rig Work.
  • Well Service Blowout Prevention (BOP) knowledge.
  • Boiler Certification.
  • CAOEC Rig Assessor considered an asset.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing.
  • Fluent in written/spoken English.
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions and be away from home for periods.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the condition of rig equipment, reporting major mechanical issues and coordinating repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate daily activities with clients, suppliers, and third-party service providers.

TheRig Manager is the supervisor of the well servicing rig crew responsible for the safe operation of the well servicing rig. This leadership role oversees all rig operations, ensuring the safety and performance of crew members while maintaining compliance with operational, HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental, HR (Human Resources) and administrative requirements. The Rig Manager coordinates daily activities with clients, suppliers and third-party service providers, supports operational planning and execution, and provides leadership, training and mentorship to crew members. Rig Manager is responsible for promoting company safety standards and procedures, National Safety Code(NSC) compliance, and the continuous development of personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee all well servicing operations on location
  • Monitor the condition of rig equipment, reporting major mechanical issues to Operations field office and coordinating required repairs
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures
  • Coordinate daily activities with clients, suppliers, and third-party service providers
  • Training and mentorship with crew members
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Previous service rig experience working in Driller, and Rig Manager position
  • Valid full Class 5 Drivers license & reliable transportation
  • Air Brakes Endorsement is preferred
