Job summary

Western Production Services is seeking a Derrickhand to join our well servicing crew in Canada. This full-time seasonal role involves operating and assisting on the rig, guiding tubing and equipment, and supporting the Driller while maintaining safety standards.

You will need prior service rig experience (Floorhand/Derrickhand), a valid Class 5 driver's license (Air Brakes preferred), and willingness to work in all weather and away from home. Benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience on service rigs as Floorhand or Derrickhand.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Air Brakes Endorsement preferred.
• Fluent in written/spoken English.
• Willing to work in all weather conditions and away from home.

Responsibilities

• Assist Driller with equipment maintenance related to the circulating system.
• Assist with pipe guiding while positioned in the derrick.
• Participate in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments and drills.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents and equipment hazards.
• Comply with company policies and safety procedures.

TheDerrickhandis an experienced crew member of the well servicing rig crew responsible for safely performing well servicing operations from the tubing board. Working at an elevated position, the Derrickhand guides tubing, tools and equipment as they are run into and pulled from the well. This position also includes operating and driving rig equipment to and from job sites, supporting the Driller in daily operations, mentoring and assisting crew members, and carrying out all assigned duties in accordance with client requirements, company procedures and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Driller with equipment maintenance specifically related to the circulating system
• Assist with pipe guiding while positioned in the derrick
• Participate in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments and emergency response drills
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment hazards immediately
• Ability to comply with company policies and procedures

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Previous service rig experience working in Floorhand and Derrickhand positions
• Valid full Class 5 Drivers license & reliable transportation
• Air Brakes Endorsement is preferred
• Preferred Industry Tickets:
• H2S Alive
• Standard First Aid with CPR
• CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
• Fall Protection for Rig Work
• CAOEC Derrickhand Competency considered an asset
• Ability to pass pre-employment testing
• Fluent in Written/Spoken English
• Be willing to work in all weather conditions and work environments with work away from home
