Job summary

Western Energy Services is seeking a Derrickhand for our well servicing crew in Canada. This full-time seasonal position requires operating and guiding tubing, tools and equipment, and supporting the Driller on daily operations on site.

Responsibilities include assisting with equipment maintenance, participating in safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with client requirements and company procedures. Fluency in English and valid driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• Seasonal, full-time Derrickhand with well servicing experience.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's license and reliable transportation.
• English fluency; ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Pass pre-employment testing; safety certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Western operates contract drilling services across Canada and maintains a United States presence through Stoneham Drilling. Within Canada, Western also provides well servicing and high-quality rental services to support a broad range of customer needs. Across all operations, the company remains committed to safe, efficient, and reliable energy service solutions.

TheDerrickhandis an experienced crew member of the well servicing rig crew responsible for safely performing well servicing operations from the tubing board. Working at an elevated position, the Derrickhand guides tubing, tools and equipment as they are run into and pulled from the well. This position also includes operating and driving rig equipment to and from job sites, supporting the Driller in daily operations, mentoring and assisting crew members, and carrying out all assigned duties in accordance with client requirements, company procedures and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Driller with equipment maintenance specifically related to the circulating system
• Assist with pipe guiding while positioned in the derrick
• Participate in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments and emergency response drills
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment hazards immediatelyAbility to comply with company policies and procedures

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Previous service rig experience working in Floorhand and Derrickhand positions
• Valid full Class 5 Drivers license & reliable transportation
• Air Brakes Endorsement is preferred
• Preferred Industry Tickets:
• H2S Alive
• Standard First Aid with CPR
• CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
• Fall Protection for Rig Work
• CAOEC Derrickhand Competency considered an asset
• Ability to pass pre-employment testing
• Fluent in Written/Spoken English
• Be willing to work in all weather conditions and work environments with work away from home
