Job summary

UASU's SUBmart on the University of Alberta North Campus is hiring part-time Retail Attendants to facilitate sales, assist customers, and support daily operations.

Shifts are Mon-Fri: 7:00AM-1:00PM, 10:00AM-2:00PM, or 11:00AM-3:00PM. Applicants must be 18+, have Alberta Grade 12, and ideally prior retail experience. This role is ideal for students seeking flexible campus work.

Qualifications

• Minimum Alberta Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Must be 18+ due to lottery ticket sales.
• Retail experience is a plus.
• Able to operate electronic POS and perform shift counts.
• Strong customer service and friendly with staff, students and public.
• Able to work accurately, efficiently and independently.
• Undergrad students at University of Alberta are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate sales, refunds and other customer transactions in a retail setting.
• Provide excellent customer service, respond to customer queries, and otherwise assist customers as required.
• Assist in maintaining supplies and products by completing inventory counts, replenishment, recovery, receiving, pricing and other related tasks.
• Ensure shelves and coolers are well stocked.
• Monitor the premises, and assist in maintaining the overall condition and presentation of the premises.
• Complete cash counts and other financial counts each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as required by management.

The Retail Attendant facilitates sales transactions, provides customer service, and assists in the overall operations of the Students’ Union’s retail establishment, SUBmart. We are located in the Students' Union Building on the U of A's North Campus.

We are looking for part-time Retail attendants to work the following shifts Mon-Fri:

7:00AM-1:00PM

10:00AM-2:00PM

11:00AM-3:00PM

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Facilitate sales, refunds and other customer transactions in a retail setting.
2. Provide excellent customer service, respond to customer queries, and otherwise assist customers as required.
3. Assist in maintaining supplies and products by completing inventory counts, replenishment, recovery, receiving, pricing and other related tasks.
4. Ensure shelves and coolers are well stocked.
5. Monitor the premises, and assist in maintaining the overall condition and presentation of the premises.
6. Complete cash counts and other financial counts each shift.
7. Perform other job-related duties as required by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Alberta Grade 12, or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years or older, as the job involves lottery ticket sales.
• Previous experience in a retail setting is a benefit.
• Ability to operate an electronic point-of-sale system, and to perform accurate financial accounting of shift activities.
• Strong customer service skills, and ability to deal effectively with the staff, students and the general public.
• Ability to work accurately, efficiently and independently.
• Preference given to University of Alberta undergraduate students.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Shift availability with at least three workdays per week is preferred.
• Shifts are determined based on staff availability, seniority, and business operating requirements.
