Job summary

Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport in Toronto, ON is seeking a restaurant server to warmly welcome guests, provide fast and courteous service, and support a memorable dining experience. You will help manage seating, take and process orders, and assist with room service operations while maintaining professional standards.

The role includes cash handling, basic paperwork, and teamwork with the service staff to ensure guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills with 6 months of cash handling experience or food service preferred.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or health/food handler card as required by local authorities.
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders and completing paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly and courteously; seat guests and manage a balanced workload for servers.
• Assist with opening tasks such as assigning stations for meal periods and noting daily specials.
• Process take-out orders; answer room service phones and handle room service requests; suggestive selling.
• Handle cash and transactions; balance cash drawer at shift end and complete opening/closing paperwork.

JOB OVERVIEW

Welcomes guests to the restaurant and provides fast and courteous service to ensure an enjoyable dining experience and repeat business.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greets guests promptly and courteously; seats guests ensuring a balanced workload among servers. Maintain an accurate waiting list as needed. Alert guests when the table is available.
• Assists Manager or Supervisor with opening tasks such as assigning stations to servers for meal periods and retrieving daily specials.
• Processes take-out orders; may answer room service phone and process room service orders; practices suggestive selling techniques.
• Receives customer payment from servers and processes transactions on the cash register as outlined in the cash and charge procedures; gives correct change; balances cash drawer at the close of shift; completes all opening/closing paperwork; documents void on the void balance sheet.
• May assist bus persons in clearing, cleaning, and setting tables.
• Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Always provides a professional image through appearance and dress.
• Perform other duties as assigned. In carrying out your duties you will follow all Company and Brand Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills and 6 months of cash handling experience or food service preferred.
• This job requires the ability to perform the following:
• Handling, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Remain stationary for extended periods.
• Moving about the restaurant

Other:

• Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and waiting for staff, cooks, and supervisors.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, describing cocktail items, completing paperwork, etc.
• Basic math skills are frequently used when handling cash and credit.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
