Job description

This is a great international restaurant culinary career opportunity as a working Head Chef for Mediterranean/Steak/Seafood restaurant in the Grand Cayman Islands, Caribbean (NOT FOR TORONTO).

An established market Fine Dining Restaurant in the Cayman Islands is searching for a working hands-on Head Chef to lead its multicultural kitchen brigade. (Sand, sun and sea, is free).

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be a totally hands-on, high-energy, and creative Professional Chef with a solid culinary background, proven leadership skills, and a passion for Mediterranean, Italian international flavors, quality, and guest excellence.

Key Responsibilities include:
  1. Offering a culinary wow factor to local and international guests all over the world.
  2. Preparation of menu items including desserts.
  3. Expedite, execute and/or assist on the line during service.
  4. Ensure proper sanitation and safety standards are upheld.
  5. Implement ongoing training and teaching of the kitchen brigade.
  6. Maintain inventory of items with a focus on budgeting, cost analysis, and planning.
  7. Maintain a positive environment to encourage growth and diversity within the workplace.
Mandatory Requirements:
  1. Must have knowledge of current restaurant culinary trends in seafood and international Cuisine.
  2. Must have hands-on experience in a major city trend-setting restaurants.
  3. Post-secondary degree in Culinary Arts or industry equivalent experience with at least 3 years experience working as Restaurant Head Chef in a quality trend-setting restaurant like O&B.
  4. Solid understanding of menu planning, complete with cost analysis, portioning, and plate presentation.
  5. Full knowledge of inventory control measures with the ability to develop and execute.
  6. Must have strong interpersonal skills and lead your small kitchen team.
  7. Fully functional on a computer with full knowledge of menu costing and recipe conversion.
  8. Can commence this position upon obtaining work permit visa approval in 45 to 60 days.
Compensation:

This position offers an excellent salary of USD $65,000 net tax-free, (90,000CAN Tax Free) annual vacation, and benefits. Please note: You will be responsible for your own accommodation on the island which would be around $1,800US for a one-bedroom apartment.
