Job summary

AdaptAbilities is seeking a Respite/Disability Worker - Community Specialist (In-Home) in Edmonton, AB. This permanent part-time role supports an adult participant in the Calder neighbourhood, North of 127 Ave and East of 127 Street, with a reliable vehicle required for the Monday 4–9 PM shift.

You will provide direct care, build meaningful relationships, document progress, and collaborate with a caring team to help participants grow, succeed and belong.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required on hire.
• Intermediate First Aid CPR Level C and AED are required on hire.
• Must have access to a reliable vehicle during work hours.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are assets.
• Strong boundaries and de-escalation strategies are assets.

What You Offer:

Ideally, you have experience working with children, youth and young adults or vulnerable individuals in a health care setting. The Position:

This is a permanent part -time position within our In-Home Program, supporting an adult participant in area of the Calder neighborhood, North of 127 Ave and East of 127 Street. The position requires you to have a reliable vehicle as the work schedule is Mondays from 4 to 9:00 PM.

The Community Specialist (CS) will be reporting to the assigned Program Manager. As a Community Specialists (CS) you would be an ally and ambassador, you will work front-line and are pivotal to the creation of a safe, caring and community-enriched life for the individuals/families who hire us. Thoughtful program planning and implementation supports participants to connect with their communities - establishing real relationships and creating meaningful days and lives. The conscientious CS will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with diverse abilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

• Provide direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun and safe environment
• Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, personal interests and identities
• Empower people to create meaningful days and achieve their goals
• Communicate effectively with their team members, which includes to individuals, families, and co-workers

Qualifications

• Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma and little or no work-related experience.

• Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire
• The candidate must have access to a reliable vehicle during work hours

Compensation $19.40 to 20.39 per hour depending on experience and education
