Job summary

Covenant Health in Edmonton is seeking a Respiratory Therapist I to provide professional assessment, therapeutic intervention and follow-up for patients with cardio-pulmonary disorders at Misericordia Community Hospital.

The role supports discharge planning, educates patients and families, and acts under the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement; this is a temporary part-time position with 0.55 FTE and rotation across day/evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized and accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Active CRTA registration in good standing.
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional assessment for cardio-pulmonary and related disorders.
• Develop and administer care plans; perform diagnostic testing.
• Facilitate discharge and provide education to clients, family and care givers.

Description

The Respiratory Therapist I (RT) is responsible for professional assessment, therapeutic intervention and follow-up for patients with cardio-pulmonary and related disorders. The RT I reviews clinical referrals, conducts assessments and performs diagnostic testing, develops and administers care plans for patients, facilitates discharge and provides education to clients, family and care givers. The RT I is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications
