Job summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to operate and monitor life support equipment, including ventilators and anaesthetic gas machines, in Georgetown. You will perform inpatient diagnostic tests, administer oxygen therapy, respond to codes, and participate in quality assurance and policy development.

The role requires current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario, BLS and ACLS, and at least three years in critical care.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
  • ACLS required
  • Three years experience in critical care preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years acute care experience required for our Milton and Georgetown positions
  • Experience working effectively in a busy clinical environment
  • Excellent leadership and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to establish positive and supportive relationships with patients, families and other health professionals
  • Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of the critical care team
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory attendance and employment record required

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, monitor and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed.
  • Respond to cardiac arrest codes and high risk births for airway maintenance and resuscitation.
  • Perform intubation as ordered by the physician.
  • Teach patients and staff throughout the hospital as required.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance activity.
  • Comply with occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Assist with departmental policy and procedure development and review.

Salary: $44.488 to $57.781 per hour
