Job summary

Halton Healthcare in Georgetown, ON, invites experienced Respiratory Therapists to join a permanent part‑time role. You will operate and monitor life support equipment, perform ABG testing and diagnostic spirometry, and respond to critical events to support patients and staff.

The position requires registration with the Ontario College of Respiratory Therapists, BLS, ACLS and a minimum of 3 years in acute/critical care settings.

Qualifications

• Current registration with College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
• Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
• ACLS required.
• Three years of experience in critical care preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years acute care experience for Milton and Georgetown positions.
• Experience working in a busy clinical environment.
• Excellent leadership and problem solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to establish positive relationships with patients and health professionals.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain life support equipment (ventilators, anaesthetic gas machines).
• Perform inpatient diagnostic testing (spirometry, ABG).
• Initiate, monitor and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed.
• Respond to codes and high risk births for airway maintenance and resuscitation.
• Perform intubation as ordered by the physician.
• Teach patients and staff where required.
• Participate in departmental quality assurance activities.

Job Description

You will operate, monitor and maintain life support equipment such as invasive and non-invasive ventilators and anaesthetic gas machines. Perform inpatient diagnostic testing including spirometry and arterial blood gases. Initiate, monitor and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed. Respond to cardiac arrest codes and high risk births for airway maintenance and resuscitation. Perform intubation as ordered by the physician. Teach patients and staff throughout the hospital as required. Participate in departmental quality assurance activity. Comply with occupational health and safety requirements. Assist with departmental policy and procedure development and review.

Salary: $44.488 to $57.781 per hour
