Job summary

A leading company in precious metals is seeking a Resource Modeler to develop robust resource and reserve models for its Porcupine projects in Timmins, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Geology or related fields and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Mine Geology or Planning. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on safety, integrity, and sustainability.

  • Registration or eligibility as a Professional Geoscientist in Ontario.

Purpose

Develop robust resource and reserve models for Porcupine projects and operations, including defining the scope of analysis at pre-feasibility and feasibility levels, and all associated documentation. Generate simulations for resource categorization, uncertainty analysis, and risk assessments. The Resource Modeler reports to and supports the Long Term Planning Superintendent of Porcupine in delivering resource models.

  • Report to work physically fit.
  • Follow all safety procedures and practices to improve safety performance and culture, aiming for zero harm.
  • Speak up and inform supervisors about unsafe situations.
  • Complete required safety training and certifications.
  • Report hazards and incidents as per site procedures.
Operational Excellence & Growth
  • Create short and long-term models adhering to company standards, applying geology, mining, geostatistics, and mathematics knowledge.
  • Understand reconciliation performance and its relation to resource models.
  • Continuously improve models and related processes.
  • Support stakeholders in Mine Engineering, Operations, and Exploration.
  • Plan and complete projects timely.
  • Define deposit uncertainty through risk analysis and simulations.

Training and Education
Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mine Engineering, Geostatistics, or related field with relevant experience.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Mine Geology, Short-Term Planning, Long-Term Planning, or Ore Control. Resource modeling experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills And Abilities
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written).
  • Strong background in applied mathematics, problem solving, 3D visualization, and geological modeling.
  • Proficient in Vulcan or similar software, with quick learning ability for new tools.
  • Strong Excel skills; scripting knowledge (Python, Perl) is a plus.
  • Technical writing skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration across disciplines.
  • Registration or eligibility as a Professional Geoscientist in Ontario.
