Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 year diploma in Business Administration, Office Systems, Computers, Databases or related field.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience providing services to diverse client groups and developing job search-related paperwork.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, internet and e-mail.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of community, employment and social service-related resources.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, research and administrative skills.
  • Ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse client population.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Employment Services staff to promote employment opportunities and ensure seamless service delivery.

Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services, the resource centre attendant serves as the first point of contact for community employment services and is responsible for providing exceptional front-line support to job seekers, employers, and community partners. The incumbent directs inquiries to appropriate internal and external resources, coordinates referrals, and assists clients with their job search activities.
The resource centre attendant supports individuals accessing labour market information, career and occupational resources, training opportunities, employment opportunities, and job search strategies. Through a client-focused approach, the incumbent helps clients navigate available services while contributing to the effective delivery of employment programs and services.

  • Act as the first point of contact for individuals accessing Resource Centre services.
  • Respond to in-person, telephone, text, and email inquiries regarding programs and services.
  • Explain available services to new clients, assess initial needs, and schedule appointments.
  • Receive and manage referrals through the case management system.
  • Contact referred clients by phone, text, or email to arrange appointments.
  • Track referral sources, communication methods, and contact attempts.
  • Update referring agencies when clients cannot be reached.
  • Assist clients with job search activities, including resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and online job applications.
  • Organize and maintain electronic filing systems for client resumes and related documents.
  • Provide referrals to appropriate internal and external community resources and services.
  • Maintain, organize, and update Resource Centre materials, resources, and displays.
  • Collaborate with Community Employment Services staff to promote employment opportunities and ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Monitor the case management system for referrals from social assistance programs and other referral sources.
  • Update client and referral information within the case management system.
  • Maintain the online job board and monitor the status of employment postings.
  • Create and maintain social media content to promote services, resources, and employment opportunities.
  • Conduct client follow-up activities to verify employment outcomes and collect program-related information.
  • Contact clients at scheduled checkpoints by phone, text, or email for follow-up and employment verification.
  • Review employment information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist Employment Services staff with data entry, document management, and electronic record maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 (two) year diploma in Business Administration, Office Systems, Computers, Databases or related field
  • A minimum of at least one (1) year of relevant experience providing services to diverse client groups, developing job search-related paperwork and compiling and disseminating labour market information
  • Effective research skills, demonstrated proficiency using a variety of computer programs including MS Office Suite, internet and e-mail
  • Familiarity with a wide range of community, employment and social service-related resources
  • Excellent customer service skills along with effective organizational, research and administrative skills
  • An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse client population
