Job summary

affirm is seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead the Resilience Engineering team focused on production load testing and chaos engineering. You will shape platforms and tooling for safe production experimentation, partnering with infra, product, and security leaders to integrate resilience validation across the software lifecycle.

The role emphasizes safeguarding real users while pushing reliability improvements through controlled testing.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in reliability, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with production load testing, chaos engineering, or large-scale system validation.
• Experience with chaos engineering vendors such as Gremlin, Harness, or similar.
• Strong programming background (Python, Java, Kotlin, or similar).
• Familiarity with cloud-native environments (AWS, Kubernetes) and observability tooling.
• Excellent problem-solving and leadership communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the resilience engineering vision for production load testing and chaos engineering.
• Lead and mentor engineers building platforms for safe production experimentation.
• Partner with infra, product, and security leadership to embed resilience validation into dev lifecycle.
• Establish best practices for safe testing of limits and failure scenarios in production.
• Own design and evolution of platforms enabling safe load testing and fault injection.
