A leading organization in adolescent care is seeking a dedicated individual to join their treatment team. The role involves supporting residents emotionally and physically, planning activities, and ensuring their well-being. Candidates should have a High School diploma and be trained in crisis intervention techniques, demonstrating a commitment to fostering positive values and personal development in young individuals.
Participates as necessary in the admission of new residents.
Maintains an awareness of each resident's emotional, physical, and spiritual needs and refers him/her to other team members (when necessary) to meet these needs.
Be alert that each adolescent is prepared for and attends his programmed appointments: psychological, psychiatric, educational, and medical.
Provides immediate intervention utilizing therapeutic crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
As a member of the treatment team, contributes to the formulation of a treatment plan for each individual in the unit through submission of written reports and participation in discussion. Carries out treatment plan where appropriate.
Organizes recreational activities that make leisure time a positive, rewarding experience.
Ensures the daily care and cleanliness of the living facilities.
Manages clothing, household supplies, and equipment.
Provides transportation - if approved as Agency Authorized Driver, transports residents as requested.
Supervises residents' personal hygiene routines.
Remains alert to be available for "active" listening to any adolescent in the unit in line with that adolescent's treatment goals.
Completes daily logs and other reports as requested and submits them to appropriate staff.
Follows proper procedures for reporting damage or needs in the physical plant, supplies, etc.
Advances professional development by participating in the facility's in-services training program, bi-monthly supervision, and attending outside conferences, seminars, and workshops as requested by the supervisor.
Promotes and fosters positive values in residents such as: integrity, dignity, self-control, poise, honesty, self-respect; a sense of personal responsibility; motivation for study, careers, and life goals; appropriate spiritual and religious attitudes in accordance with each resident's religion; respect for personal property and equipment, as well as appropriate use of money.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - External
High School Diploma or GED, with two years of college preferred.
Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver's license, and fingerprinting as required by the program.
Compliance with PPD clearances.
Current certification in CPR and demonstrated competency on an annual basis.
This position requires successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, including a written test and demonstration of the ability to perform physical restraints, as specified by the program and regulatory body. Staff must also complete all required TCI refreshers to maintain employment.
