Job Description

Position: Residential Counsellor, Broadview Village

Location: Broadview Village Tambrook

Type: Full-Time, 40 hours/week, Tuesday - Saturday, rotating shifts 7am - 3pm & 3pm - 11pm

Purpose: To provide support and advocacy for residents to meet their goals and needs.

Qualifications

• Developmental Services Worker diploma or equivalent in human services (preferred)
• 6-12 months experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges
• Experience in individual program planning (preferred)
• Valid First Aid and CPR, NVCI certification (must be obtained within 3 months)
• Training in medication administration and behavior management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Computer skills (MS Office, internet, LMS)
• Additional assets: personal care training, supporting mobility, driver’s license, French skills

Responsibilities

• Respond to safety and healthcare needs of residents
• Model positive behavior and support residents’ personal development
• Advocate for residents and facilitate self-advocacy
• Support residents in daily living activities and community engagement
• Administer medication and maintain accurate records
• Support household routines and site maintenance
• Ensure safety and health compliance, report hazards and incidents
• Follow safety protocols and use agency vehicles and equipment responsibly
• Participate in team meetings and organizational policies

Additional Details

Position may include designation as Counsellor-In-Charge (C.I.C.) to oversee shifts in the absence of the manager.

Hourly rate: $23.67, with a target range up to $27.88 based on experience and qualifications.
