Brandt Group of Companies is seeking a Resident Heavy Equipment Technician based in Sault Ste. Marie to maintain and repair construction and forestry equipment in a shop environment and potential field work.

You will diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts, and document maintenance actions using John Deere Service Advisor and related systems. The ideal candidate has prior heavy equipment mechanics experience, is a certified journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician trade or

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment.
• Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician trade or equivalent designated trade.
• Must be committed to customer service and service excellence.
• Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel.
• Must be able to meet physical demands (climbing, overhead lifting/postures, prolonged standing).
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Efficiently evaluate the working condition of heavy duty equipment and diagnose issues.
• Assemble/disassemble equipment and order necessary parts.
• Use related instruments, tools, and computer systems to document maintenance.
• Record actions and time taken on work orders.
• Assess service task hazards and ensure safety standards are met.
• Document maintenance and diagnosis in John Deere Service Advisor and other systems.
• Locate and order parts from parts personnel.
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Brandt is currently seeking a Resident Heavy Equipment Technician based in Sault Ste. Marie, reporting to our Sudbury Construction & Forestry branch.

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
• Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required
• Other duties as assigned

What We Look For

• Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred
• Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade preferred
