Job Summary

The Senior Resident Engineer/Structures Representative acts as the company and client representative at the work site, overseeing all structures construction work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. This role involves working independently on structures construction tasks, reporting directly to the Sector Leader, and managing company and local agency personnel related to structures construction. The position requires performing complex analyses and reviews of structures-related submittals, including falsework, shoring, and pre-stressing.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and review falsework and shoring plans independently.
  • Review structures construction-related submittals and plans.
  • Conduct field inspections of falsework elements.
  • Ensure adherence to project specifications and plans.
  • Provide detailed reports on progress, technical issues, and safety concerns.
  • Prepare cost estimates for project activities.
  • Coordinate work with contractors.
  • Act as liaison with the Project Manager.
  • Manage project documentation and ensure contract compliance.
  • Enforce construction safety regulations.
  • Review contractor pay estimates and submittals.
  • Supervise field inspection staff.
  • Communicate regularly with Project Manager, agency personnel, and senior staff.
  • Mentor and train staff members.
  • Implement the firm’s quality management plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License, preferably in California.
  • At least 15 years of experience in complex bridge construction, with experience as Structures Representative on at least three bridge projects valued at over $50 million each.
  • Experience overseeing company and local agency staff and consultants, with the ability to work effectively with the Sector Leader and clients.
  • Strong skills in writing reviews, comments, and reports; effective communication with contractors and team members.
  • Previous construction management experience on Caltrans projects or similar projects under Caltrans oversight.
  • Experience with steel girder and precast concrete girder bridge construction, including work within railroad rights-of-way, is preferred.
Additional Information

TYLin offers a competitive salary range of $141,000 to $211,000 annually, reflecting the candidate’s skills and experience.
