Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is hiring a Resident Engagement Manager at Cherry Park Retirement Residence in Penticton, BC. The role leads resident well-being, oversees engagement programs, and coordinates volunteer initiatives to enrich daily living for residents and staff alike.

This permanent full-time position requires a degree in aging/wellness, management experience, CPR/First Aid, and willingness to obtain additional certifications.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in aging/wellness related field (Gerontology, Kinesiology, Health Sciences).
  • Minimum 1 year developing programs for seniors in relevant settings.
  • Minimum 1 year in a management/supervisory role.
  • Certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days, to teach group land and aquatic fitness.
  • Valid driver's license with potential Class 4 if required, clean driving record.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Serving It Right certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Proficient in Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel; familiarity with Zoom/Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance resident well-being, autonomy, and community participation.
  • Evaluate and improve resident engagement programs.
  • Ensure staff training and certifications are current.
  • Lead welcome program for new residents and foster belonging.
  • Build partnerships with local entities, vendors, and contractors.
  • Record discussions from town halls and resident councils.
  • Create monthly events schedule and family newsletters.
  • Develop programs in line with brand guidelines.
  • Grow and oversee a volunteer program including internships.

This is a Permanent Full-Time position.

Schedule: Tuesdays to Saturdays 8am-4pm with flexibility for evening events.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Enhance resident well‑being, autonomy, and participation in community life
  • Evaluate and enhance programs designed to increase resident involvement
  • Ensure personal professional development and compliance with mandatory training and certifications for both oneself and the team
  • Lead and improve the welcome program for new residents, facilitating their integration and sense of belonging within the community
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local entities, vendors, and contractors to support and enrich resident engagement and wellness
  • Record and document discussions during town hall and resident council meetings
  • Create and distribute the monthly schedule of community events and a newsletter for residents and their families
  • Develop and implement programs in line with guidelines and brand standards
  • Grow and oversee a dynamic volunteer program for in‑person and remote volunteers, including student internships
What You Need To Know
  • Possess a degree or diploma in a field related to aging and wellness, such as Gerontology, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Health Promotion, or Health Sciences
  • Bring at least one year of experience in developing programs for seniors, whether in independent living, assisted living, or community center environments
  • Have a minimum of one year in a management or supervisory role
  • Certified, or willing to become certified within the first 60 days of employment, to teach group land fitness and aquatic fitness classes for seniors, as recognized by the organization
  • Hold a valid driver's license, with the readiness to obtain a Class 4 License within six months of employment if required, complemented by a clean driving record
  • Currently certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Certificate in Serving It Right (or willingness and ability to obtain)
  • Proficiency in Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as virtual technologies such as Zoom/Teams etc.
  • Additional certifications (i.e. specialized fitness, dementia training etc.) considered a valuable asset
