Job summary

Qualifications

  • Membership in AACUSS/CACUSS/ACUHO-I/CCHO is an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, organization and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with business systems such as Colleague, Banner or PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the housing assignment process for the Residence Life Office.
  • Share On-Call duties with the Residence Life Manager for 24/7 crisis management.
  • Manage conflicts among students and staff; attend behavioural meetings as needed.
  • Design and co-lead Residence Assistants training and ongoing training initiatives.
  • Lead event planning and enhance the student living environment to foster leadership and inclusion.

Classification: Permanent, 10 Month Sessional MPA Level 3 Position
Starting Salary: $62,452 per annum (approx. $52,043.33 per session)

Qualifications

You possess a relevant University Degree with 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience working in an educational setting with experience in residence life is a preference. Membership in professional associations such as AACUSS and CACUSS (Atlantic/Canadian Association of College & University Student), ACUHO-1 (Association of College University Housing Officers - International), CCHO (Canadian Chief Housing Officers) is an asset. You are passionate about student success and enjoy working with a diverse student body. You possess effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, presentation skills, organization, and time management skills. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.

Responsibilities

This position supports the Residence Life Manager (RLM) in managing the residence life component of the Office of Student Experience and is responsible for coordinating the housing assignment process of the Residence Life Office. The RLC will share in On-Call responsibilities (split with RLM), when they must be available to the residence life staff 24 hours/day, 7 days/week for crisis management and critical incident response. The RLC is responsible for conflict management among students and student staff, and may also be required to attend behavioural meetings and other meetings.

The RLC will also help design and co-lead student Residence Assistants training in August/September, as well as on‑going training initiatives throughout the year. Through residence life programming, additional training programs and support, the RLC is responsible for enhancing the student experience and ensuring that the residence living environment is a vibrant and inclusive community which fosters leadership opportunities, growth and development for all students. The RLC will lead the event planning portion of the Residence Life Office. The RLC is a student experience professional and represents the University accordingly.
