Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto is seeking a part-time Animal Research Technician to support the Dunn and Wang labs within the Biological Sciences Platform.

You will perform animal husbandry, record keeping, and assist in preclinical projects, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and related tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with mouse handling, tagging, and record keeping
• Prior experience with small animal behavioral evaluation an asset
• Experience with EthoVision software an asset
• BSc. in biology or related field
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills
• Detail oriented and dependable individual capable of working independently

Job description

A part-time animal research technician position is available jointly in the labs of Drs. Shannon Dunn and Chao Wang, Biological Sciences Platform at Sunnybrook Research Institute, Toronto.

One of Canada's Top 10 Research Hospitals, Sunnybrook Research Institute is developing innovations in care for the more than 1.3 million patients the hospital cares for annually. Sunnybrook Research Institute is the research enterprise of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Research spans three Toronto-based campuses, eight programs and three scientific platforms. The Dunn lab and Wang lab are both interested in developing treatments for brain disorders presenting with neuroimmune pathologies. They specialize in preclinical animal models of depression and multiple sclerosis. The successful applicant will focus on performing animal husbandry, colony management, and assist in related experiments.
