Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a neuroscience researcher with a PhD in Neuroscience or Neuroimaging to advance psychiatric disorder research using resting-state and task-based fMRI data. The role involves collaboration across clinical and research teams, data analysis, and communication of findings through manuscripts and conference presentations.
Qualifications include strong programming (R, Python, MATLAB), excellent English communication, and ability to coordinate diverse teams
One of Canada's Top 10 Research Hospitals, Sunnybrook Research Institute is developing innovations in care for the more than 1.3 million patients the hospital cares for annually.
Sunnybrook Research Institute is the research enterprise of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Research spans three Toronto-based campuses, eight programs and three scientific platforms. Our main aims are to understand and prevent disease, and to develop treatments that enhance and extend life. Our vision is to invent the future of health care. Each year, we conduct about $100 million in research across 500,000 square feet, including in the world's first Centre for Research in Image-Guided Therapeutics.
The Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program focuses on treating and researching complex brain conditions, building on decades of expertise in brain disease management. Sunnybrook is a pioneer in neuromodulation, a rapidly advancing field that uses innovative technologies to target brain circuits for treating various brain disorders. The Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation (HCN) is among the first to offer a full spectrum of neuromodulation therapies in a state-of-the-art facility. With internationally recognized researchers, HCN focuses on minimally invasive technologies to address the root causes of conditions such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS, essential tremor, brain tumors, major depression, and OCD. Our experts are committed to developing personalized, cutting-edge treatments, expanding our impact locally and globally as the field continues to evolve.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in neuroimaging analysis, with a focus on advancing our understanding of psychiatric disorders. Dr. Benjamin Davidson's team collects resting-state and task-based fMRI data to observe functional brain changes following deep brain stimulation and focused ultrasound. This role offers an exciting opportunity to analyze and interpret complex datasets, as well as to communicate research findings through manuscripts, grant applications, and oral presentations. Expertise in handling and analyzing large, complex datasets is highly desirable. This position provides an excellent foundation for a career in academic and translational research.
